Why Kickstarter? Why Not Traditional Publishing?

Let's be honest about how the gaming industry works. When you sign with a major publisher, you gain resources—but you trade away control. Publishers want safe bets. They want proven formulas. They want games that can be marketed in a 30-second trailer and explained in one sentence.

Zephara doesn't fit that mold.

We're building an RPG with 75 skills that level through actual use—not abstract points. We're creating a tactical turn-based combat system where the environment is as important as your abilities. We've written over 500 pages of design documentation covering everything from the five-act narrative to the behavior patterns of 220+ creatures.

A publisher would look at our design docs and ask us to simplify. To streamline. To make it more "accessible." And we'd lose everything that makes Zephara special in the process.

When Are We Launching?

Here's where we need to be completely transparent with you: We're not launching our Kickstarter campaign until later this year at the earliest.

Why the wait? Because we refuse to launch a Kickstarter campaign without something real to show you. We're not going to ask for your trust with nothing but concept art and promises. When we go live on Kickstarter, you'll be able to:
